Missionary outside Egypt
Some
elderly old monks in the monastery known for their knowledge and
piety mention that in the second quarter of the twentieth century
A.D. some clashes happened between the head of the monastery and the
monks because the head of the monastery did not abide by his
promises to the monks. The clashes reached to the extent that the
head of the monastery threatened to expel the monks from the
monastery. Such clashes were published in public newspapers and
magazines.
One day, a telegram arrived from one of the churches in Ireland directed to the head of the monastery and the monks encouraging them for reconciliation as this monastery is great and they have an old liturgy in Ireland that was written in it: (Remember O Lord your servants the monks of El Meharrak Monastery who restored us to faith).
It is noteworthy that, according to Irish ecclesiastical tradition, seven Egyptian monks have ministered in Ireland and although they are not known by name, yet they are mentioned among other saints in Irish liturgical books.
Whether, the mentioned seven Egyptian monks and the monks referred to in the telegram are of the same identity, it is a question of a research?!
